Cybersecurity

As we all know that nowadays the internet has become a necessity in today’s world. Everybody is connected through social media in today's era where millions of people communicate and become friends, and thus comes the question of cybersecurity.
The Internet is the main part of communication and it also becomes necessary to be safe and take care of the surroundings. The cybersecurity has become one of the main concern as the crimes are increasing day by day, some people face the issue of fake people being coning them, while some face the problems of banking frauds, etc.
The basic meaning of cybersecurity is protecting our data, transactions, networks, programs and other information from unauthorized access or destruction or changes that are done by illegal means. To protect our data from this illegal and unwanted access some people use different kinds of software that safeguard our data. The usage of these kinds of software can be paid or free depending on the company policy.
Big companies mainly use the software at a greater scale to protect their important information and data. According to the stats after the USA and China, India has the third-largest number of internet users. And for such a big number it becomes even more important to secure surfing and browsing. The main requirement of cybersecurity is to control cyber crimes-crimes happening against the individuals and cyber warfare- crimes against the state.

The crimes which are committed by using cyberspace i.e. computers, telephones or other devices by an individual or a group. These attackers use different kinds of software and codes to attack the person. They exploit the weakness of the software to do so. One of the common ways of cybercrime is hacking in which the predator hacks the person's account unethically and do malpractices that can be hacking social media accounts and intervening in their functions. Another kind of cybercrime can be economic frauds that attack the banking security and transaction systems. Another kind of threat is cyber warfare, this kind of threat is for the state which can lead to internet-based crime at the bigger level.
The other kinds of attacks are viruses, Malware, spyware, phishing, ransomware, fraud, etc. The virus enters into the personal computers' laptops or mobiles by some of the infected websites, links or intentionally created webpage’s by which these predators get the unethical access to the devices.
We need to take security measures that avoid the cybercrime and make the surfing safe. Some of the ways are:
One of the safest ways to avoid the crimes and to rest up peacefully is to change the passwords frequently so that the accounts cannot be hacked easily.
One of the other ways is to use the password managing tools likes LastPass, dash line, or sticky password, etc. apps that keep track of every activity and thus help to keep safe from the crimes.
Another easy way to safeguard to delete the unused accounts and history so that the hacking and other illegal activities can be prohibited.
There is one more way to secure our accounts from the malware by activating the 2 – factor authentication which adds extra security to the logins and passwords are safe. This gives an extra layer of security that makes it harder for the predator to intrude on the logins.
The software must be updated from time to time so that the latest security settings can secure internet browsing.

There have been a great number of big threats due to a lack of cybersecurity. According to some survey it has been found that India ranks 54 % globally at steel where there is malware and ransomware, globally there is 47 %. Yahoo also provided the figures that 3 billion accounts were breached in 2013. And many more cyber crimes have been reported around the globe.
Due to a lack of cybersecurity, there have been big brutal terrorist attacks of 26/11, 9/11 in America, Mumbai which were big bomb blast. The cybersecurity plays a big role in preventing big crimes like leakage of personal information, blackmailing, fraud transactions, and hacking of bank accounts. In July of 2019, online banking giant Capital One had a cyber-attack and their data was hacked. Hundreds of thousands of credit card applications, which included personally-identifying information like birthdates and Social Security numbers, were exposed.
There are 8 kinds of cyber attacks:
1. Malware: software that damages the single computers, servers or devices.
2. Phishing: it is the technique by which fraud emails are sent to fool people and take harmful actions.
3. Microsoft puts it: viruses, worms, or trojans that multiply and damage the devices.
4. Ransomware: it is a kind of malware that encrypts the person's files and maybe dangerous up to a greater level.
5. Denial of services: it is a method of brute force that stops online internet services from working properly.
6. Man in the middle: it is the attack in which an intruder comes in between the person and the services he is trying to access.
7. SQL Injection: it is the means by which an attacker can exploit to take control of the person database.
8. Cryptojacking: it is the specialized attack that makes the personal computer work for generating the cryptocurrency.

For the conclusions, due to high internet usage and increased web surfing, cybersecurity has become one of the necessities. Not only the government but also the individuals need to be aware to update the system and keep a check on the services timely, get the anti-virus in the computer so that the systems can be protected from these malware and other cybercrimes.
Cybersecurity is an emerging as a very important field as the number of crimes are increasing rapidly and we need to control these crimes, so we can make the internet and surf free of any problems and safe. These steps can help us to a great extent.
